Inside Elizabeth Kendall’s Life As Ted Bundy’s Girlfriend
Driven by obsessive homicidal fantasies, Bundy was compelled to murder repeatedly to satisfy his terrible desires. However, the brutal and messy reality of murder never completely fulfilled the promise of Bundy’s fantasy. In fact, the aftermath of murder usually resulted in an emotional letdown for him, yet the fantasy did not go away because it was too deeply ingrained in his mind and psyche. Looking back on her relationship with Bundy, Elizabeth Kendall said she still carries a lot of guilt with her. About three weeks later, on Feb. 9, 1978, Bundy kidnapped and murdered 12-year-old Kimberly Leach. She was one of Bundy’s youngest victims and his last murder.
It was also a defense which Bundy famously led himself as a former law student, though notably, he completed well below the requisite requirements and semesters for a JD degree. Ted Bundy’s girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer fell in love with the serial killer in 1969 not long after she moved to Seattle. Neither did Elizabeth, who knew nothing of his creepiness toward her daughter. She met Bundy in 1969, soon after moving from Salt Lake City to Seattle where she worked as a secretary at the University of Washington. Twenty-four at the time and recently divorced, she was intrigued by the bohemian spirit of the day. She was drinking beer with a friend at the Sandpiper, a local bar where the jukebox was stocked with songs by the Beatles, when a curly-haired man asked her to dance.
Boone’s and Bundy’s prison visits were, um, something. She would apparently smuggle in drugs for Bundy, via her vagina, which he would then take back to his cell…rectally. Boone became pregnant with Bundy’s child while he was on death row. Bundy insisted on acting as his own attorney, and even cross-examined witnesses during his trial. While in a pre-trial hearing, Bundy jumped two stories from one of the courtroom windows.
Ann Rule Wrote A Book About Ted Bundy
Everybody else just had to mime eating, and only those people onscreen at that time had to eat. You probably can’t feel it in the cut because we did it so quickly, and I hope very seamlessly, but it’s not like everybody had to eat for all nine takes. And yet they’re so talented that they grounded it somehow. We had long conversations with them about tone, and I also talked to Ben about it extensively. It has to feel at some level both surreal and bizarre and crazy, but also grounded, or else it’s just gonna feel like some weird fantasy show. We probably shot an hour of footage, from different angles, of the bacchanal, and how much do we use?
The murders of eight women have been connected to him, according to authorities. Bundy sexually assaulted his victims but it was not motivated by lust. Instead, rape was another means of dominating and controlling his victims. Also, Bundy did not lose interest in his victims after they were dead.
Over the next several days, Bundy confessed to various law enforcement agents. Bundy told FBI Special Agent Bill Hagmaier he killed 30 people in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Colorado, and Florida between 1973 and 1978. Ted Bundy is convictedof kidnapping and first-degree murder for the death of Kimberly Leach, for which he receives his third death penalty.

He claimed to have raped and killed her at Taylor Mountain, more than 25 miles southeast of Seattle. Bundy is charged with the January 1975 murder of Caryn Campbell and extradited to Colorado. Bundy is found guilty of aggravated kidnapping and sentenced to serve a minimum of one to a maximum of 15 years in the Utah State Prison.
The friends met through their connection to a Gainesville citizens group against the death penalty. “Several years ago the relationship evolved into a more serious, romantic thing. Serious enough so I want to marry you,” Bundy said at the time.
Louise Cowell marries Johnny Culpepper Bundy, who formally adopts Ted. Eleanor Louise “Louise” Cowell, 22, gives birth to Theodore Robert Cowell at an unwed mothers home in Burlington, Vermont. The true identity of his father has never been confirmed.
There were rumors that the onetime Boy Scout and A student cheated on his wife with one of his lawyers, Diana Weiner. His actions could also have influenced her decision to divorce him. No one knows when Boone stopped loving Bundy, but she filed for divorce in 1986, not long after their daughter was born. After their divorce, she moved to Washington with her children. After the proposal, some people thought it was a publicity hoax.

Bundy would wind up marrying a woman he met while he was incarcerated, Carol Ann Boone, with whom he fathered a daughter. Ted’s daughter, reportedly named Rose, has changed her name and lived a life hidden from the public eye. Being from Florida, I thought it was fitting to research cheekd Ted Bundy, our very well known American serial killer. These are just 15 facts about Ted Bundy that I found the most bone chilling. It was almost as if he had no personality at all – only the ability to show people what they wanted to see in order to get what he wanted from them.
Four bodies to his name when he popped up on national TV, smiling with perfect hair. Rodney Alcala, one of the most infamous serial killers in U.S. history, would eventually be arrested and sentenced to death in 1980 for the murder of 12-year-old Robin Samsoe. There’s plenty to unpack when it comes down to the science, psychology, reasoning, and love for a “bad boy” or dangerous relationship. For all the true crime listeners and lovers out there, take our word for it when we say this is only the start of the story. Boone kept things platonic with Bundy at first, but later connected romantically once he was on trial in Florida for the murders of two young women in the Chi Omega sorority house at FSU, per the book. She eventually even moved from Washington to the Sunshine State to visit Bundy more frequently.
I think we need to look into his work with the “Happy Face” Keith Jesperson. He didn’t start killing until later on in life in history. Doc didn’t work with Ed Kemper, but there are a lot of parallels in those stories. I really could see the relationship that Ted Bundy had with Doc and Doc had with Ted Bundy. If you listen to some of the tapes when Ted Bundy escapes from prison in Colorado, he calls Doc when he gets back in. He’s talking about it like he is talking to a friend going on a camping trip.
