You\u2019ll want a weatherproof RV pedestal hook-up with a 50-amp (NEMA 14-50R) outlet. Or, if you prefer to do a wall mounting, you\u2019ll need a separate weatherproof 50-amp (NEMA 14-50R) outlet. Before we get started, you\u2019ll need to get a few items to install a 50-amp plug for your RV. Connect red and black wires to the side terminals of your outlet (they could be color-coded as brass). Now, you can connect your 50 amp RV plug to the pedestal hookup to recharge the battery of your RV. First, you will need to locate and switch off the main breaker of your home. You can identify the main breaker with its mark as 100 or 200 amps. You can use a voltage meter to test all the electrical power is off. But there are ways to hook up your RV to your home\u2019s electrical system; you can install a 50 amp outlet at home. If you frequently visit a place, it may be worth firsthand toinstall a hookup for your RV before you travel.<\/p>\n
Not everything you plug in will draw the same amount of electricity. Some devices run quite well on very little power, while others are big draws on your available power. In general, anything that generates heat or gets cold will draw a lot of power, and you can\u2019t run too many of these at once. This is especially the case if you\u2019ve got a 30-amp power cord. Another route would be to run a 2-wire cable big enough for 40\/50 Amps.<\/p>\n
